Track technology “Made in Neumarkt” for the Middle Kingdom
Neumarkt , Germany, 15 February 2007 – Today, Thursday, 15 February 2007, the management of the RAIL.ONE Group enjoyed the honour of welcoming Mr. Huiqun Yang, General Consul of the People’s Republic of China in Munich, to its headquarters in Neumarkt. Also a member of the visiting delegation was Mr. Alois Karl, Member of the German Parliament in Berlin. The extensive exchange of views held in Neumarkt primarily dealt with the activities of RAIL.ONE in China.
For the RAIL.ONE Group, China and Asia represent key growth markets for expansion of its international activities on the market for railway infrastructure engineering. In January of 2006, RAIL.ONE signed an agreement with the Chinese Ministry of Railways for application of the RHEDA 2000® ballastless track system in the People’s Republic of China. This agreement grants China usufructuary rights to the technology involved. It also allows RAIL.ONE and its partners in a group of European companies (i.e., Eichholz, Heitkamp, and Royal BAM Group) to play a leading role in supporting the planning and construction of the double-track passenger dedicated line (PDL) from Wuhan to Guangzhou in southeast China. The line, over a total of approx. 980 km, will be executed in RHEDA 2000® ballastless track, and is planned to go into operation during 2010. Over the coming 10 to 15 years, plans in China alone are to install 12,000 km of track for passenger transport on high-speed lines equipped with this innovative ballastless track technology. In comparison: since 1991, less than 1,000 km of ballastless track has been installed in Germany.
This was the first visit by General Consul Yang to RAIL.ONE in Neumarkt. The representative of China was obviously impressed by the comprehensive RAIL.ONE product portfolio for all areas of application in railway transport. Over the past 20 years, RAIL.ONE has grown from a supplier exclusively of railway sleepers, to a comprehensive, integrated system provider for development and construction of railway track systems for high-speed traffic. In his discussions with RAIL.ONE, the General Consul clearly emphasized the importance of advanced railway infrastructure engineering for ongoing development of the railway network in the People’s Republic of China.
Richard Ziegler, CEO of RAIL.ONE, was very pleased with the visit of General Consul Yang: “For us, the development of international business relations is always an important cultural experience as well – and an interesting occasion for intercultural sharing. We are delighted to take part in partnership collaboration with engineers, executives, and experts on site in China. And we are likewise highly interested in cultivating contact with political representatives of China here in Europe.”
